Clips of the blood-red sky in China have been circulating on Twitter and the Chinese social media site Weibo for a few days.
The strange phenomenon is said to have happened in the Chinese east coast city of Zhoushan.
Clips and images show the red sky over residential areas.
People can be seen looking up at the strange sight that looks like something out of a sci-fi movie.

Tens of thousands of people watched the clips.
Some people accused them of being photoshopped, while others thought they signaled the end times.
A user tweeted: “In the Chinese district of Zhoushan, the apocalypse seems to have begun.”
Another joked, “Stranger Things season 4 looks freakin’ good.”
According to the Global Times, a Chinese state-owned media company, the crimson sky scenes are very real.
This report indicated that the event took place on May 7 and was due to a perfect storm of wet and overcast weather conditions that reflected red light from fishing vessels into the sky.

This was confirmed by the Zhoushan Meteorological Bureau.
Other experts have suggested a solar storm could be to blame, as solar flares are known to have hit Earth this week.
