Country club charged in death of former pro surfer

A NSW club and its manager are being charged in the death of former pro surfer Chris Davidson, who died in a one-punch attack outside the venue last year.
South West Rocks Country Club on the mid-North Shore has been charged with 16 felonies, including a licensee allowing indecency/violence on licensed premises, failing to comply with license terms and violating the rules of a registered club.

Police found Davidson, 45, unconscious on the ground after he was called to the club just after 11pm on September 24 after a man was reportedly punched in the face, fell and banged his head on the pavement .
Grant Coleman, 42, has been charged with assault causing death and is on trial over the incident.
“Mid North Coast Police District Licensing Police issued court attendance notices to the club and the club’s manager on Tuesday,” the police said in a statement.
The charges against the club will be heard in Kempsey Magistrates’ Court on March 9.
