Councilman-Electoral Robbins charged with fabricating ‘Blacks’ attack

David Robbins, a recently elected city councilor of Riverview, Michigan, fabricated an assault while he was being questioned by police over a DUI.

The councilor, who is white, said “a black guy” tried to attack him while police questioned him front porch. (He has since been charged with “drunk driving, negligent driving and leaving the scene of the accident”, per WDIV-TV.)

Full body camera footage of the interrogation has been uploaded to TikTok by users @ Auntkaren0. TikTok has received about 174,000 views as of Friday.

Robbins can be seen in the scene sitting down on his porch. He is telling the officers who are questioning him that he does not know where his car is because he did not drive that night. His story then turns to the assault.

“What the hell is the problem? Why would anyone worry about me having the key as opposed to a black guy trying to kill me? ‘ said Robbins.

Another clip of body cam footage shows Robbins telling officers he doesn’t know who his alleged attacker is. But he certainly wasn’t a Riverview resident, Robbins said, because if he were, he’d recognize him.

“I don’t know what happened, OK?” Robbins said in the next clip of the scene. “Except that some stupid Negro guy who probably had no business coming to our city in the first place, did what he did.”

The incident happened on November 4, when Robbins was found after a night of drinking to celebrate his election to the city council on November 2.

According to a Article published this week by News-Herald, a Michigan-based newspaper, Robbins was found by police in a parking lot hours before the interrogation took place on his front porch. Here, Robbins argued with a man did have a legit knife. As News-Herald Note:

[Police Chief Ron] Beggs confirmed that neither Robbins nor the other man wanted to complain to the other.

However, Robbins later changed his story, saying the man tried to stab him in the chest so he beat the man “until he didn’t move.” He added that he hoped the man was okay, but that he “continued to hit him until he stopped.”

The man was thoroughly interviewed by police after the parking argument and there were no visible injuries to corroborate Robbins’ account of what happened.

TikTok viewers weren’t surprised by the allegation, which suggested that Robbins had racist motives.

“Why do they keep putting us in their BS.. leave us alone,” one TikTok viewer commented on the video.

“That lie came out of his mouth so easily…” another viewer said.

One user wrote, “When they insist that a BLACK person did something, you know they are lying.”

According to his Facebook profile picture, Robbins supports President Donald Trump’s re-election in 2020.

As News-Herald notes, “a preliminary examination of the evidence against Robbins is scheduled for January 6 in the 27th District Court in Wyandotte.”

Robbins did not respond to the Daily Dot’s request for comment via email.
