Connecticut: Parents of 4-month-old boy shot dead fighting over dog

The parents of a four-month-old boy were shot dead and a woman injured in an argument over a dog on Father’s Day.
Chase Garrett, 39, and Christina Dang, 27, were killed and an unidentified woman in her 20s was seriously injured when a dispute with a neighbor escalated, Hartford Police Chief Jason Thody said Monday.
An interested person is said to have driven away after the shooting.
Garrett and Dang were pronounced dead at the scene at 67 Franklin Avenue in Hartford, Connecticut, shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday. The third victim, who lived in the same house as the slain couple, was taken to hospital and is fighting for her life.
It was initially unclear who the owner of the dog was. Those involved in the shooting had not previously complained about the dog, police officers said.
The vehicle has been located by authorities and an investigation is underway to locate the suspect, whose identity has not been released.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the police station.
The couple’s son is orphaned.
Hours before the shooting, Garrett posted a photo of himself with his son along with the caption, “My first Father’s Day.”
“I never thought I would be a dad…but I will try to be the best dad I can be…taught me so much! My little angel…literally,” Garrett wrote on Facebook.
Dang’s cousin Olivia Anderson said the couple recently moved to Hartford to bring their son closer to Garrett’s family.
“She didn’t have him until February,” Anderson told NBC. “And she’s been trying to make it better for herself and her family.”
On Monday, police urged the public to contact authorities if they see confrontations escalate.
“Very personal disputes, minor personal disputes that escalate into violence at an incredible rate, and the presence of guns makes these disputes deadly,” said Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin.
“I can’t say it enough, we need to find better ways to resolve our conflicts non-violently. It’s frustrating for officers because they’re hard to predict and hard to prevent.’
