BEVERLY, MASS. (WHDH) — MBTA is bringing in shuttle buses after a Commuter Rail train derailed near Beverly Wednesday night.
A Commuter Rail spokesman said none of the 10 people on board were injured when the oncoming train went off the tracks at Beverly Junction.
“I didn’t really feel anything,” said commuter Simon Sadikovic. “There was no shudder, but then I saw all the conductors running up the aisles.”
The 17:37 train from Rockport and the 17:07 train from Newport were both canceled because of the derailment.
The train sat for hours while staff surveyed the damage. For some, the delays were enough to send them home, but not the case for Ben Parisian, who was en route to Boston for the NBA Finals.
“The game doesn’t start until 9 p.m. so stay tuned,” he said.
Train service between Beverly and Newburyport/Rockport will resume Thursday morning.
Nothing was known about the cause of the incident.
