Community mourns, officials seek answers after missing Lowell boy’s body found in pond near babysitter’s home – Boston News, Weather, Sports

LOWELL, Mass. (WHDH) – Officials are trying to figure out how a 3-year-old Lowell boy died after he was found in a pond after a two-day search Wednesday.
The boy, identified as Harry Kkonde, was last seen on Freda Lane at his babysitter’s house on Tuesday morning. Police launched a massive manhunt on Tuesday and continued on Wednesday before finding Harry in 5ft of water near shore by a pond at a Christmas tree farm about 650ft from his babysitter’s home, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said .
Ryan said Lowell firefighters searched the pond Tuesday morning and did not find Harry, saying the boy was “probably out and about” during yesterday’s search. She said there were no signs of trauma and police don’t think foul play was involved.
“We’re going to shift our focus from finding him to finding out what happened,” Ryan said. “It’s obviously every parent’s worst nightmare.”
“I don’t cry much but boy was it a shock,” said farm owner Ronald Perron Jr. “I never thought they would find that kid in my pond.”
