“There should be no excuse for drunk driving, so we wanted to help you drive home safely by providing an Uber code,” said Marisa Maez, NMDOT communications director.
Code “NYE21” gives approximately 2,000 participants an Uber credit of up to $15-two rides per person. It starts Wednesday, December 29 and will run until midnight on January 2. All part of the ‘Come with us’ program – starting back in 2018
“It is a collective partnership with Radio Cumulus, the city of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County as well as NMDOT and a number of other private donors who want to help bring a safe ride home to those in need. celebrate on major holidays. And so far we have provided about 25,000 free ride homes to everyone,” Maez said.
And they hope to get more people home safely this year. Uber codes are only available in the Bernalillo County metro area. But NMDOT hopes to expand the program statewide.
DWI is a year-round problem – and for moms who are against drunk driving – it’s not about staying put – but about making the right decisions when going out.
“We all want to get home safe for the holidays and celebrate with family and friends, so really make the choice not to be affected,” said MADD regional executive Lindsey Valdez. enjoy this festive season.
