A division of HarperCollins Publishers said on Tuesday that it was canceling plans to publish a book by Chris Cuomo, who was fired by CNN over the weekend following controversy over his role as an advisor, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Publisher HarperCollins’ Custom House originally planned to publish Chris Cuomo’s book, titled “Deep Denial,” in the fall of 2022.
“We have no intention of publishing the book,” said Kelly Rudolph, a spokeswoman for Custom House.
Rudolph did not immediately respond when asked if Cuomo had received an advance to write the book, and if so, whether the money had been refunded.
News of the cancellation comes a day after Cuomo said he was ending SiriusXM show and hours later The Wall Street Journal reported that CNN President Jeff Zucker told news network employees that CNN will not pay Cuomo severance.
Zucker also told staffers at a town hall that he wished Cuomo could take a leave of absence in May, after revealing he had counseled Andrew Cuomo on how to deal with allegations of sexual harassment by Mr. many women, the Journal reported.
A Cuomo spokesperson declined to comment to CNBC.
