Chinese billionaire Richard Liu has settled US rape allegations

MINNEAPOLIS – Chinese billionaire and founder Richard Liu agreed to settle a lawsuit filed by a University of Minnesota alumnus who claimed he killed her at her Minneapolis apartment in 2018 after a night of dinner and Drinks with wealthy Chinese executives, lawyers from both sides, raped Saturday announced.

In a joint statement released Saturday night, attorneys for both sides said, “The 2018 incident between Ms. Jingyao Liu and Mr. Richard Liu in Minnesota resulted in a misunderstanding that has attracted significant public attention and has caused deep distress to the parties and their families.” . Today, the parties have agreed to settle their differences and settle their litigation to avoid further pain and suffering caused by the lawsuit.”

A settlement amount was not disclosed. The settlement was announced just two days before the trial began in a Minneapolis courtroom.

Richard Liu was arrested in August 2018 on suspicion of rape, but prosecutors said the case had “profound evidence problems” and declined to pursue criminal charges.

Jingyao Liu sued Richard Liu in 2019and said he and the other businessmen forced her to drink alcohol at a group dinner and that he forced himself on her in his vehicle and later raped her at her home.
