China’s booming fast-fashion giant Shein is facing dozens of US lawsuits over alleged design theft

In just a few years, Chinese clothing giant Shein has captured the market for bargain-seeking Gen Z shoppers by offering a huge selection of cheap clothes every day. Along the way, it has recorded a long list of complaints of copyright theft from big brands and boutique designers.
Worth more than $100 billion and supported by well-known investors like Sequoia Capital China and General Atlantic, shein — pronounced “she-in” — has seen booming growth. Its appeal includes reduced prices, successful connections with online influencers, and an endlessly refreshing wardrobe with up to 6,000 new items a day.
