A 4-year-old boy who had been missing in Montana for two days was found Sunday “hungry, thirsty” but “in good spirits,” authorities said.

Ryker Webb disappeared around 3 p.m. Friday afternoon while playing with his family’s dog in the Bull Lake area of Kootenai National Forest, near his family’s home.

He was reported missing near mile marker 18 of State Highway 56, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. He was found about 2.4 miles from where he went missing on Sunday afternoon.

According to the sheriff’s office, the search mission involved the use of helicopters and drones, but their efforts were hampered by “very poor weather conditions consisting of rain, poor visibility and low ceiling” over the weekend.

Search efforts also included dog teams, ATVs, and a boat unit stationed on the lake. Montana Air National Guard helicopters searched for the boy from the sky. The dense vegetation also made it extremely difficult to find the little boy, the sheriff’s office said.

The boy was “in a good mood and appeared healthy, although he was hungry, thirsty and cold,” the sheriff’s department said in a statement.

Saturday night when he was lost, temperatures dropped into the low 40s and a quarter inch of rain fell. About 50 people turned up to look for him on Sunday
