Pride Month is here and with it the predicted crowd of companies showing their nominal support for LGBTQ+ rights.
Companies like AT&T, Home Depot, Comcast and others have all either made statements about LGBTQ+ causes or publicly acknowledged their support, although the public companies have donated millions of dollars to anti-gay politicians in the past, per forbes.
However, one of the many companies not participating in the Pride Month celebrations is Chick-fil-A. The fast-food giant has come under repeated criticism for its donations to anti-gay organizations, which totaled over $2 million in 2010, according to Insiders.
Chick-fil-A has since rebalanced its charitable contributions, cutting some but not all of its donations to anti-gay organizations Guardian.
The company’s support for anti-gay causes hasn’t apparently stopped some employees from showing their own support for LGBTQ+ rights, albeit in unusual ways.
One such method of showing support went viral on TikTok this week. User Karla (@icedcoffeewalmdmilk) recently posted a video of an Austin Chick-fil-A choosing to organize their sauces in rainbow order, either accidentally or on purpose, to evoke the LGBT flag.
“[Chick-fil-A] said happy pride,” she wrote in the caption that overlaid the video.
Karla’s video currently has over 1.5 million views.

While it’s unclear if the staff chose this in specific reference to Pride Month, users have speculated about it in the comments section.
“Whoever set this up will be fired,” joked one user.
“Companies are already trying to find out the branch number in order to fire the employees responsible,” added another.
“Now they will be closed tomorrow,” joked a third.
Other Chick-fil-A users and alleged collaborators, past and present, also chimed in to say that they frequently engaged in this act of silent defiance.
“I specifically arrange the sauces in rainbow order every day,” one claimed.
“Our managers screwed up so quickly when we did that and [say] ‘The sauces don’t work that way,'” claimed a second.
“I worked at a CFA on my college campus and I would do that all the time,” said another.
Some users even shared their own anti-LGBTQ stories about working for Chick-fil-A.
“I work there and they tried to make me straight during a team meeting,” claimed one commenter. “It was an obligatory meeting and we had to recite everything the owner wrote on a whiteboard. Many of these were verses from THE BIBLE, and he kept talking about being “on the right path to heaven.” He also mentioned that relationships should be kept out of Chick-fil-A, but only considered very overtly gay employees. At the same time, he always promotes a few straight couples in our store.”
Regardless, users still enjoyed this apparent act of rebellious LGBTQ+ support from a notoriously anti-gay company. “They said it was the best thing to do given the circumstances,” one joked of the workers’ efforts.
The Daily Dot contacted Karla via TikTok comment and Chick-fil-A via email.
