Andreas Christensen has all but confirmed a change Barcelona, calling the La Liga giants “one of the greatest clubs in the world”.

The Dane left Chelsea this month after refusing to sign a contract extension at Stamford Bridge.

The defender was highly rated by Thomas Tuchel, who made no secret of his desire to keep the centre-back at the club.

But Christensen decided against signing a new deal and speculation has been heavy that he will join Barcelona.

The move has yet to be announced but Christensen has clearly indicated he’s on his way to the Camp Nou.

“I know where I have to play,” Christensen told reporters after Denmark’s win over Austria.

When asked where he would play, Christensen said: “Unfortunately, it’s not entirely up to me [the timing of the announcement]. There are other things that have to fit as well.

‘Hopefully soon. But I knew for a long time what I would do. I’m just waiting for the right time.”

A reporter then asked specifically about Barcelona and Christensen replied with a wry smile: “They’re one of the biggest clubs in Europe. I think there’s something for everyone – whether they’ve had their problems or not, it’s still one of the greatest clubs a player can reach.
