departure Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has already made his mind up on his next club, reportedly verbally agreeing a deal with Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The Germany international is out of contract at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season and the west London club have been unable to tie him to a new deal after making a final offer worth £230,000 a week.

On Sunday, following Chelsea’s 1-0 win over West Ham, manager Thomas Tuchel confirmed that Rudiger had decided to leave the club.

The restrictions imposed on Chelsea after Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the British government meant the Blues could not offer further improved terms as Rudiger was offered a massive payday elsewhere.

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, Italian giants Juventus and Manchester United were among the many clubs keen to sign Rudiger, but it seems Real Madrid have now won the race.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio RomanoThe 29-year-old has accepted an offer from Real and all parties are now working out the finer points before the deal is officially announced.

Earlier this season there were suggestions Real Rudiger may have offered Rudiger up to £400,000 a week, as well as a huge sign-up fee and an agent’s fee.

Chelsea simply haven’t been able to keep up with Real’s massive offer, especially given the uncertainty surrounding the club as Abramovich looks to sell.

Rudiger will soon sign a long-term deal with Los Blancos, joining a club that has had an excellent season both domestically and in Europe, with Real currently 15 points clear at the top of the league table and in the semi-finals Champions League.

Tuchel confirmed Rüdiger’s impending departure and said on Sunday: “We fought hard [to keep him]; I fought hard on a personal level. We made him big offers and the club tried everything.

“But we haven’t been able to fight for a few weeks because we have the sanctions. We cannot adapt. We can’t go on and that’s the way it is.’

He added: “He deserves my full support for his incredible performances to date. I’m just glad I had the chance to coach him and have him on the team. Because he was nothing but brilliant.’

Rudiger may not be the only defender to leave Chelsea on a free transfer for La Liga this summer and fellow contract partner Andreas Christensen is expected to sign for Barcelona.
