Charles Barkley reveals what MJ said during the last discussion

It’s well documented that Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan haven’t spoken to each other in a while. Barkley has spoken at length about a falling out the two had after criticizing the way Jordan was managing the Charlotte Hornets, which didn’t sit well with the six-time NBA champion.

Barkley has for years expressed his desire for the two to reconcile, although he recently clarified that the ball is in Jordan’s court for that to happen. And in a recent appearance on the All The Smoke podcast, Barkley revealed what Jordan specifically said to him, which caused them to fall out.

“That would be on his side, Matt,” Barkley said at the 1:33:41 mark of the video above. “He was my best friend at the time and I love the guy and miss him. But you know, I have to do my job.”

Barkley then shared the now-famous story of how he said that in his role as owner of the Hornets, Jordan surrounds himself with too many yes-men and that he feels it’s unfair to criticize others while letting some people slide.

“And he went ballistic,” Barkley said. “And he called me — the last thing I heard was, ‘Motherfucker fuck you, you’re supposed to be my boy and blah blah blah.’ And I said, man, I gotta do my job. And we haven’t spoken since that night.”
