Channel 4 reporter said of Republican: ‘Go back to your country’.

A British journalist was told to “go back to her country” by Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene when she challenged the politician over America’s gun laws.
The Republican representative for Georgia lashed out at Channel 4 Washington correspondent Siobhan Kennedy after she questioned Taylor Greene at a news conference on American gun control.
Ms Greene, 48, told the room it was her party’s job to “defend the Second Amendment”.
Siobhan challenged the Republican on the validity of the legislation, noting there are no “mass shootings” or the Second Amendment in Britain.
She said: “We don’t have guns in Britain, that’s true, but we don’t have mass shootings either. And our children are not afraid to go to school.”
Ms Greene had stepped away from the mic when the Siobhan made the comment and quickly turned aggressive, saying: “You have mass stabbing, lady. You have all kinds of murder and you have laws against it.’
‘Not like the prices here,’ said Siobhan.
“Well, you can go back to your country and worry about being unarmed,” Ms. Greene shot back. “We like our guns here.”
Ms Greene later posted a video of the exchange on Twitter, saying: “When the British press wants to argue about our God-given American gun rights, my answer is, ‘Go back to your own country.’
Siobhan hit back, tweeting: “Marjorie Taylor Greene is not happy that I pointed out that the proposed gun legislation is not about taking her guns away!
“Furthermore, knife crime in the UK is in no way comparable to gun crime here.
“There are no ‘mass stitches’ in the UK. “But here the kids are afraid to go to school?” she wrote.
Siobhan later spoke to MailOnline and said Ms Greene “doubled down” on her opinion by posting the footage online.
“It was a press conference from the Second Amendment Caucus — in other words, a group of very conservative Republicans who oppose any kind of gun control, like the legislation that’s going through Congress right now and is very likely to pass,” she said.
“It was a big back and forth after I basically asked her and the other members of the group what they were afraid of – that no one was threatening to take their guns away
“It’s important to challenge these politicians and hold them accountable.”
Ms. Greene, a conservative Republican, was a vocal supporter of guns.
Last month, in response to the mass shooting at Robb Primary School in Uvalde, Ms Greene proposed setting up a voluntary militia of parents and guardians to protect the schools.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, there were 279 mass shootings in America this year, defining a mass shooting as four or more injured or dead.
