Today EA released an in-depth video where the Battlefield 2042 developers explained some of the changes we can expect with the launch of Season 1 and beyond.

We learn some hints about the new map that is coming with the new season, which will arrive in early June and will have “a lot of verticality”, followed by a look at the changes that will be made to the Kaleidoscope map.

With the renewed renewal (pun fully intended) coming in Season 2, we can also look a little further into the future.

Breakthrough will be reduced to 64 players to improve gameplay experience, while Hazard Zone will not be included for upcoming maps added with Seasons.

A lot of changes are coming to the specialists, including new graphics and animations. Gameplay changes are also imminent, but the team isn’t ready to share their plans in that regard just yet.

Traversal will receive some “big updates” in July, including new motion animations that feel more natural.

PC gamers will be pleased to know that DICE expects to continue pushing performance improvements with Season 1.

The upcoming roadmap includes four Seasons, four new Specialists, four Battle Passes, new locations, new weekly missions, new weekly rotations, and new items from the in-game store.

Battlefield 2042 is currently available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. Changes to maps, gameplay and more
