French riot police have clashed with Liverpool fans after the Champions League final was thrown into chaos.

A shocking video shared on social media showed heavily armed officers clashed with fans watching the game in Paris.

French journalist Remy Buisine captured the moment a group of officers carrying protective shields and batons burst into a bar and pushed fans back.

40,000 people have reportedly traveled from Merseyside to the French capital without a ticket and are attending the game in local bars.

It was heartbreak on the pitch for the Reds, who were defeated 1-0 by Real Madrid after 90 minutes.

What should have been a dream night for the fans was marred by crowd problems both at the stadium and elsewhere.

Kick-off had to be postponed after thousands of fans struggled to get into the ground amid a breakdown or organization at the Stade de France.

Videos posted on social media showed fans climbing over fences to get into the ground and pepper spray being used.

A shocking video showed children caught in the chaos, struggling with the effects of the harmful substance.

The game had to be delayed by more than half an hour, but some fans still couldn’t make it to the ground.

There was brawling off the ground, with one Liverpool fan saying groups of people from Paris who don’t support either team upset people trying to get in on the game.

Nick Smith, 42, told the PA: “I’ve had a ticket paid for through the nose, especially at the minute everyone’s struggling.

“But total lack of organization means I’m in a pub and not where I should be.”

One said: “I queued for four hours, my wife and I have tickets. Terrible. I’m devastated, Liverpool fans shouldn’t be blamed for this.

Another witness blamed the police for the clashes from the ground.

They said: “The police came at the fans with batons and shields.

“Officers stood by with water cannons and other crowd control equipment throughout the day, and their numbers increased throughout the day.

“They seemed unhappy with the amount of alcohol they were drinking, so they decided to move in there. It didn’t seem provoked.”
