Real Madrid won’t stand in the way of the Brazilian should he wish to leave The Athletic, he now reports he has agreed a four-year deal with United with an option for a fifth.
Although the deal is not finalised, the transfer is moving fast as Marca report that the former Sao Paulo youngster will travel to Manchester on Friday with Real’s permission for a medical check-up.
United are poised to make Casemiro one of their top earners and while reports claiming he will double his salary are said to be well over target, his deal is said to be worth £350-000 a week, the sum by David de Gea is said to earn.
Reports in Brazil add that Casemiro’s decision to consider United’s bid was based on “sporting reasons” as United are seen as one of the few clubs that can offer him a new challenge after surviving during his hugely successful time at Real Madrid has won everything there is to win.
United’s dismal start to the 2022-23 season and growing anger from fans have increased the need for new signings, with Erik ten Hag desperate for reinforcements.
United have lost their first two games of the season to Brighton and Brentford, conceding six goals and scoring once, while arch-rivals Liverpool come to town on Monday.
According to reports in Spain, United are keen to secure a deal for Casemiro as soon as possible and register him in time for his debut against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
To do this, however, the club would have to have officially made the move by Friday afternoon.
United are also hoping to sign another option forward and a right-back before the September 1 transfer window closes.
