A man was injured after being shot by someone with a nail gun as a car drove by.

A manhunt has been launched for the attacker, who was in a vehicle in Carlisle, Cumbria, on Saturday night.

They used the dangerous do-it-yourself tool on Scotland Road at 6.15pm while heading towards the city centre.

Fortunately, the victim, in her 20s, suffered little damage.

However, witnesses have been asked to come forward as police warn the incident could have ended in tragedy.

Acting Inspector Sarah Hodkinson said: “We are appealing to everyone who was in the area and may have witnessed this incident to come forward.

“Fortunately, this did not result in a serious injury, but that in no way dilutes the gravity of this incident.

“This type of behavior will not be tolerated and officers are investigating to identify those responsible.”
