Carjacking suspect faces new deadly carjacking charge

ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis man currently charged with one count of auto theft was charged Wednesday in a fatal theft auto in July 2022.

Prosecutors for the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri said Loyse Dozier, 20, committed two auto thefts over a three-week period in July and August 2022.

On July 10, a federal criminal complaint alleges Dozier fired a gun during a fatal auto theft involving a 2014 Mercedes sedan. The carjacking happened outside a market on Block 300 of Chambers Road in Riverview.

Dozier was charged with carjacking resulting in death, brandishing and firing a firearm during a violent crime resulting in death, attempted carjacking resulting in grievous bodily harm, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession of a firearm to further a crime related to drug trafficking, and possession of a Firearm as a previously convicted felon.

A previous indictment alleges that Dozier shot and killed a woman three times on Aug. 1 while stealing a car outside a Walgreens on the 1400 block of North Grand Boulevard.

Police allege the victim was in her car when Dozier approached her and demanded her keys at gunpoint. The woman was shot multiple times after handing over her keys.

An off-duty Florissant police officer was working in the store’s security area when they heard the gunshots and ran outside. Dozier got out of the car and ran away.

Bullet casings found in the July carjacking match those recovered in the August incident, prosecutors say.
