Cardiff: Two injured after fairgoers ‘strayed’ from Winter Wonderland ride

Two women have been hospitalized after reportedly straying from a Winter Wonderland ride in Cardiff.
Witnesses said they heard a “massive bang” last night.
Rescue workers treated the women at the scene before they were taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Laura Rogers, 29 and from Pontypridd, said: “We played the games opposite and we heard a bit of excitement. When we looked over we saw all the security guards running around frantically.
“We noticed that they rushed to a hut. They then left with some sort of medical bag.
“As they sped past us, we followed them – then I realized there had been an accident on the way.
“Then I noticed a lady or girl on the side pinned against it. As I continued walking, I noticed another girl who looked unconscious.
“There were shoes on the floor that seemed to have flown off during that time.”
An investigation has now been launched by the Health and Safety Executive.
A spokesman for Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland said: “We are aware of an incident that took place on the evening of Saturday 26 March.
“Safety is always our priority and a full investigation into the incident is now underway. We as the organizer are working closely with the ride owner/operator and all relevant organizations to investigate. The ride will remain closed during this time.’
A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We had a call at 5.15pm that two patients had reportedly strayed from a drive in Winter Wonderland.
“We used our Cycle Response team who were in the city center for the rugby match. A transport ambulance has been called to take two patients to the hospital.’
