Cardi B on Halle Berry’s BAPS remake starring Megan Thee Stallion

The 1997 film starring Halle Berry BAPS has a somewhat complicated legacy, as it was critically panned upon release but has since grown into a memorable cult classic. Apparently there was talk of a remake, and in a recent interview with Slashfilm, director Robert Townsend said that “everyone from Megan Thee Stallion to Cardi B” has asked for their blessing on a remake of the film.
However, Cardi put an end to that rumor. In a tweet shared today (March 9), Cardi quoted a post dismissing the rumor, adding, “I don’t even know where this rumor came from in the first place… Maybe because we were in the wap video.” looked so cute? β¦Kiss Kiss.”

In a 2021 interview, Berry reflected on the film’s lead characters, Denise “Nisi” and Tamika “Mickey,” saying, “I knew then that they would be loved, you know? [β¦] It was a really beautiful representation of us and it takes it to be one, to know one, to really understand, you know what I mean? [β¦] I get so much more love for boomerang And BAPS now than ever.β
BAPS is a true icon and ahead of its time in every way. @Halle Berry tells why the role of Nisi became so important for the culture.
