Cardi B on Halle Berry’s BAPS remake starring Megan Thee Stallion

The 1997 film starring Halle Berry BAPS has a somewhat complicated legacy, as it was critically panned upon release but has since grown into a memorable cult classic. Apparently there was talk of a remake, and in a recent interview with Slashfilm, director Robert Townsend said that “everyone from Megan Thee Stallion to Cardi B” has asked for their blessing on a remake of the film.

However, Cardi put an end to that rumor. In a tweet shared today (March 9), Cardi quoted a post dismissing the rumor, adding, “I don’t even know where this rumor came from in the first place… Maybe because we were in the wap video.” looked so cute? …Kiss Kiss.”

In a 2021 interview, Berry reflected on the film’s lead characters, Denise “Nisi” and Tamika “Mickey,” saying, “I knew then that they would be loved, you know? […] It was a really beautiful representation of us and it takes it to be one, to know one, to really understand, you know what I mean? […] I get so much more love for boomerang And BAPS now than ever.”
