Car thief beaten after owner catches up with stolen truck

Medley, Fla. – A man trying to steal a huge truck got more than he bargained for when the owner of this truck was able to catch up with the thief.
The ordeal was caught on camera.
“The first call was a violent man taking a truck,” Medley Police Officer Deglys Chavarria said.
The video shows two men approaching the passenger side of a blue van. The alleged thief was already behind the wheel of the truck.
When the thief tries to drive away in the oversized truck, the two men get a ride and can be seen at one point by the door.
Eventually the two men manage to get the driver out of the truck and once on the ground they start beating him.
Police later arrested this man and identified him as 24-year-old Exon Gonzalez Caceres.
According to authorities, it all started around 10:30 a.m. Thursday at a Pilot Travel Center in Medley, located at 12200 NW S. Driver Drive
The owner of the blue van was at the gas station when he realized his truck had been stolen. According to police, the man left the truck inside.
Police said Gonzalez Caceres tried to ram other cars as he tried to escape, but as video showed he couldn’t get too far after the truck’s owner literally took matters into his own hands.
“They could zip-tie his hands and zip-tie his knees,” Chavarria said.
However, the police lesson in this case is not to leave your valuables unlocked and to be careful who you confront.
“Something where your life is not in immediate danger, don’t put yourself in immediate danger,” Chavarria said.
