Car crash marks 14th traffic-related fatality in Salt Lake City this year

Police are still searching for the driver of a white Ford F-150 who hit the victim’s car.

(Salt Lake City Police Department) A car crash at the intersection of Redwood Road and California Avenue on Friday night marked the 14th traffic-related fatality in Salt Lake City this year.

A 28-year-old man died in a car crash at the intersection of Redwood Road and California Avenue on Friday night.

According to the Salt Lake City Police Department, an 911 call reported the collision between a car and a pickup truck at around 10:11 p.m. First responders tried to rescue the 28-year-old driver of the car, but he died at the scene.

The identity of the 28-year-old was not initially disclosed. According to a department press release, the accident was the 14th traffic-related fatality in Salt Lake City so far this year.

Witnesses told police that the driver of the truck got out of the vehicle and fled the scene.

The driver remains missing, and anyone with information about the driver or the case should contact investigators at 801-799-3000.

The investigations are ongoing.
