A memorial to Sir Captain Tom Moore was vandalized by a protester fighting Britain’s use of private jets.
Maddie Budd, 21, poured what she claimed was faeces and urine over the statue of the late British Army officer in Hatton, Derbyshire.
Footage of the stomach-wrenching incident has appeared in the campaign group End British private jets‘ Social Media Pages.
Speaking of her protest, the former Welsh medical student said: “People will say he’s a hero, people will say this is deeply and obscenely disrespectful to his life and the NHS he stood up for and I agree .
“I studied to be a doctor because I believe in caring for people. If we believe the NHS matters, if we believe we need to look after each other, if we believe NHS staff do essential work, then why are we forcing our healthcare system to collapse, why are we forcing our civilization to collapse, why? basically no one who takes this genocide of all humanity seriously?
“All of this is true and the government won’t even end British private jets, every time one takes off they pour a bucket of shit and blood on everything Captain Tom stood for.”
End UK Private Jets is a small group protesting against CO2 emissions from high-end aircraft.
The niche outfit that orchestrated the stunt only has a handful of followers online and appears to have only recently formed.
The bizarre stunt bore the hallmarks of elaborate handling, but the two people who appeared to be behind the group posted a rambling hour-long video explaining why they were protesting online.
A spokesman for the group told Metro: “Captain Tom is a symbol of doing good in difficult times. He’s done so much good. And every time a private jet takes off, everything he stood for, all the good he did, totally sucks.
“The NHS will collapse when there is no food and water or when the beds are filled with millions of bodies. Words can’t even begin to describe what that looks like.”
“Doing what Maddie did to Captain Tom’s memorial is disrespectful, and what she did does nowhere near the disrespect of allowing climate collapse to happen.
“If we really care about Captain Tom and what he stood for, then why are we sending our NHS, law and order, safety and freedom into permanent collapse?
“An unimaginable collapse is imminent and the government will not even end Britain’s private jets.”
Captain Sir Tom Moore rose to prominence during the Covid-19 pandemic when he set out to complete 100 walks in his garden to raise money for NHS charities.
He was knighted by Her Majesty The Queen at Windsor Castle in July 2020 and received over 150,000 cards to celebrate his 100th birthday.
By the time he turned 100, he had raised £32.79million.
He died at Bedford Hospital on February 2, 2021.
It is not the first time that the monument erected in his honor has been defaced – in December 2021 a Vandal spray-painted the word “IRA” over it.
“I was walking in the grass when I saw it – I felt physically nauseous,” said a passerby who reported the graffiti last year.
“I had to go home and get a garbage bag to put on. I couldn’t let him see with that graffiti, it’s not pretty.
“I hope they’re happy with themselves, it’s incredible.”
