A U.S. Capitol Police officer died Thursday night, and a murder investigation is underway into the violent confrontation he had with the mob that invaded the U.S. Capitol.
Brian Sicknick died at 9:30 p.m. Jap time after being hospitalized shortly after the mob of Trump supporters violently pushed their manner into the Capitol on Wednesday.
His is the fifth demise related to the violent confrontation that compelled Congress to retreat and lockdown.
“Officer Sicknick was responding to the riots on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, on the U.S. Capitol and was injured whereas bodily partaking with protesters,” the USA Capitol Police stated in a press release. “He returned to his division workplace and collapsed. He was taken to an area hospital the place he succumbed to his accidents. The demise of Officer Sicknick might be investigated by the Metropolitan Police Division’s Murder Department, the USCP, and our federal companions.”
Sicknick joined the division in 2008.
U.S. Reps. Tim Ryan and Rosa DeLauro stated in a press release: “To honor Officer Sicknick’s reminiscence, we should be sure that the mob who attacked the Individuals’s Home and those that instigated them are held totally accountable.”
Sicknick had been on life assist previous to his demise.
