Burglar wanted after escaping van that took him back to jail | British News

A search has been launched for a man who fled a security van that was taking him back to prison.
Kwami Richards, 42, was wanted for violating his license terms after serving a sentence for burglary.
He was arrested by Met Police officers and put into a van owned by a private security firm but escaped when it was parked outside Brixton Police Station in south London on Friday.
An officer pursued him into the subway station and was attacked while attempting to arrest Richards.
But the burglar managed to escape and he boarded a Victoria Line train, which took him away.
The Met is asking the public to keep an eye out for Richards but is warning people not to approach him.
If you spot him, you should call 999 immediately.
Police are currently investigating how Richards managed to escape the van.
In March, police asked for help locating a man who was accidentally released from prison.
Rayon Newby, 20, who was released from HMP Thameside on March 17 before serving his sentence on charges of assault, molestation and burglary.
Newby, who hails from east London and has ties to Tower Hamlets and Ilford, was eventually located and remanded in custody on April 4.
