Arsenal are reportedly confident that Bukayo Saka will sign a new long-term deal amid interest from Manchester City and Liverpool.

The 20-year-old has continued to excel for Mikel Arteta’s side, taking Arsenal’s Player of the Season award for the 2021/22 season.

Unsurprisingly, Saka’s superb performances have caught the attention of English football’s top clubs, with both City and Liverpool credited with being interested in the winger.

Although he remains on his current contract for two more years, the Gunners want to retain the academy graduate for the long term.

The Sun report that Arsenal are adamant that Saka will not leave the club and the club remain assured that he will sign a new contract.

The England international is currently at the Three Lions with the Gunners awaiting his return before starting contract negotiations.

Saka is in line for a deal worth £125,000 a week, which would mean a significant increase on his current salary of £30,000 a week.

Former Gunners winger Theo Walcott has urged Saka to turn down a move to Pep Guardiola over the “limited” playing time he could have at Etihad Stadium.

“Well there’s obviously a transition period at Arsenal that Mikel is a part of and Saka is a big part of that as well,” Walcott told talkSPORT.

“The younger generation of players at Arsenal are coming through, I feel the club need to hold on to him, it’s that simple.

“Of course, when Manchester City knock on the door, it’s so difficult for any player to really refuse.

“He’s very young but I feel like he likes the London area at Arsenal, the fans have been fantastic, and at the Emirates, one of the best stadiums I’ve ever played at.

“He has great support and I will be intrigued. My heart says he’ll be at Arsenal next season and after that we’ll see.

“He has to understand that playing opportunities will be limited at Manchester City. He’s more likely to win things, of course, but that doesn’t mean Arsenal won’t win things.
