Britney Spears Substance Abuse Response, Intervention Report

In the past few days or so, there have been reports/rumors that Britney Spears was struggling with mental health issues and substance abuse, and that people close to her had planned an intervention that was canceled when Spears found out about it (per TMZ). . Now Spears has addressed the situation.

Last night (February 9), Spears shared an image on Instagram with a caption that reads, “A state of gratitude will take you to a higher frequency.” In the caption of the post, she wrote:

“It makes me sick that it’s even legal to make up stories that I almost died… I mean sometime is enough!!! I will probably have to stop posting on Instagram because while I enjoy doing it, there are obviously a lot of people who don’t wish me well!!! I’m honestly not surprised at all…I’m doing my best again!!! It’s almost a year of conservatory again… No folks, it’s not 2007… it’s 2023 and I’m making my first homemade lasagna at home!!! I finally got my fireplace working in my living room!!! As my husband says best: Don’t believe everything you read!!! All that love straight back to you!!!”

TMZ’s report said, in part, “Several sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ … people around Britney are alarmed by her erratic, erratic behavior. We’re told she’s on medication to “spice her up.” Our sources say that with increasing regularity she is “getting out of control” and not taking the medications that stabilize her.”

In a follow-up report, TMZ quoted a person “with direct knowledge” as saying, “It’s 2008 again. There is a serious fear that she will either die or kill someone. She abuses caffeine, Adderall, and anything else she can get her hands on. She is not taking her medication, which is important to stabilize her mood, and is unknowingly attempting to self-medicate with other substances, which aggravates her mental illness.”
