Malden, Mass. (WHDH) – Malden’s educators and school board reached a tentative agreement Monday night ending the all-day union strike.
Union and teacher negotiators walked out after 9:00 p.m., saying they had reached an agreement.
Details of the agreement will be released once reviewed by union members and the school board. Both parties said the settlement was hard-fought but glad they made a decision that helps the city, schools and students.
Tuesday will be a regular school day for all students and staff, the press release said.
“We are thrilled to have reached tentative agreement on a new contract that offers our teachers and other educators competitive compensation for the incredibly important work they do every day,” said Superintendent Ligia Noriega.
“We are committed to moving forward together as a unified school district,” she said, “with a renewed commitment to serving the students and families of Malden Public Schools.”
