A 14-year-old boy has been charged with murder after 14-year-old Tomasz Oleszak was fatally stabbed.

Prosecutors confirmed the news this morning.

Tomasz, of Gateshead, died in the early hours of Monday morning after suffering serious injuries “consistent with being caused by a bladed object”.

Christopher Atkinson, head of the Crown Court Unit at CPS North East, said: “Crown Prosecutors have authorized Northumbria Police to charge a 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, in connection with the fatal stabbing of Tomasz Oleszak on the evening of October 3rd in the Aycliffe Crescent area of ​​the Springwell Estate.

“The boy has been charged with murder, attempted first-degree assault and possession of a bladed object in a public place.

“Our thoughts are with Tomasz Oleszak’s family at this difficult time.”

The boy will appear at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court at 10am.
