Boston city officials urge employers to be patient with workers during Orange Line shutdown – Boston News, Weather, Sports

BOSTON (WHDH) — On the eve of the month-long Orange Line shutdown, city officials urged employers to be flexible and patient as the Boston workforce navigates a chaotic travel landscape.

“Please make sure you don’t penalize any of your employees for being late or not making it on time, as this will affect every single commuter,” said Boston Mayor Michelle Wu.

The closure is expected to affect all traffic in and around the city.

Some workers told 7NEWS they plan to use other methods to get to work once the shutdown goes into effect.

“Well I’m over at Fenway so I can get on at Hynes and take the green line so luckily I can get around them but I’m sure that’s not the case for everyone,” said one man.

While others were still working out their plan of attack.

“I’m not sure what I’m going to do tomorrow,” Norman Sianna told 7NEWS. “I wish the alternative was clearer, but I’m sure I’ll figure something out, even if it costs me more money.”

“I live pretty close to an S-Bahn line so I hope I can access it, but they don’t run very often so we’ll hope so,” another woman told 7NEWS.
