Boston bar boasts stick-on lids to protect people from canopies – Boston News, Weather, Sports

BOSTON (WHDH) — Clery’s in Back Bay has created a stick-on lid to prevent people from slipping substances into drinks after the local police department warned of a spike in drugged drinks.

The Back Bay Bar’s new protective roof lids work like a sticker that can stick to glasses, forming a seal with only one opening for a straw.

“Obviously the roofie stuff happening is something that’s not good and that we want to avoid,” said Boston’s Alexa Kaiser. “Dating as a young woman can be very scary, so I think it’s a great idea to do something like that.”

The new caps are free and are popping up in several bars in Boston. If people want to use them, they just have to ask the bar staff.
