Boris Johnson nominates his father Stanley for the knighthood

Boris Johnson has reportedly nominated his father for a knighthood as part of his resignation honor list.
Former MEP Stanley is said to be one of 100 people proposed by the former PM for the Cabinet Office review.
Any tribute to the 82-year-old would likely prompt questions about Mr Johnson using the system to honor family members.
The former Conservative leader faced accusations of nepotism in 2020 after nominating his brother Jo Johnson for a peerage. He is now Lord Johnson of Marylebone.
His spokesman has declined to comment on The Times’ new report. They said, ‘We don’t comment on honors.’
Stanley Johnson was Conservative Member of Parliament (MEP) for Wight and Hampshire East from 1979 to 1984.
In the past he has worked for the World Bank and the European Commission.
He braved the Australian jungle in season 17 of I’m A Celebrity 17th and has written books on environmental and population issues.
In 2020, a biography about Boris Johnson claimed that his father broke his mother’s nose, leaving her in hospital treatment as a child.
Stanley Johnson declined to comment at the time, saying he had not read the book. Number 10 did not want to comment either.
In 2021, two women accused Stanley Johnson of touching them at Conservative Party conventions.
Senior Tory MP Caroline Nokes claimed he violently slapped her on the bottom and made a vulgar comment at the Conservative Party conference in 2003.
Political correspondent Ailbhe Rea said he groped her at the 2019 Conservatives conference.
Stanley Johnson said he had “no recollection” of either incident.
He has been criticized during the Covid pandemic for traveling to Athens at a time when orders under lockdown were to avoid “all but essential international travel”.
He said he made the trip ahead of the rental season for “essential business”, adding that he is making the property “Covid-proof”.
Boris Johnson, who was forced to resign in shame last year, is currently facing an inquiry into whether he misled MPs about parties at Downing Street during the lockdown.
The former British leader could face suspension from the House of Commons or even lose his seat if a committee finds he has disregarded Parliament. He denies knowingly misleading MPs.
