Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie have put their £1.6million south London home on the market as they plan to live away from Downing Street.
If a buyer offers the asking price, the couple could make a cool £400,000 from the four-bedroom semi-detached house they bought in Camberwell in 2019 – just before Mr Johnson became Prime Minister.
It is understood that they were forced to move out of their previous nearby apartment due to an argument that broke out between them.
But they didn’t spend time on Camberwell’s property as the Tory leader headed for number 10.
According to MPs’ register of interests, they generate at least £10,000 a year in rental income.
Sources told the Daily Mail they are looking for a new home together in Herne Hill, south London.
The house has been renovated since the beginning of the year.
Ms Johnson was spotted there recently with gardeners clearing the back of the house and planting trees in the front.
Carrie was spotted moving in with her mum Josephine McAfee in 2019, but new pictures from real estate agents show it’s now vacant.
This is unlike their Downing Street flat, which the couple outfitted with gold wallpaper by exclusive designer Lulu Lytle in a £112,000 refurbishment.
Estate agents describe the Camberwell property as ‘beautiful’ and ‘full of character’ in a ‘sought after’ area. They say it occupies 2,100 square feet.
“The property is finished to an excellent standard throughout, tastefully furnished and retaining many features including shuttered windows, wooden floors and low cast iron radiators,” they add.
The home overlooks a park and is about a mile from the Johnsons’ previous home, where there was an infamous heated argument.
The night’s fighting prompted distraught neighbors to call the police after hearing screams.
It’s believed to have started after red wine was spilled onto a sofa, with Carrie hearing yelling “Get off me” while Boris heard yelling at Carrie telling her to get off his laptop.
In May, a car crashed into the house, neighbors said it sounded like “thunder”.
