A toddler has been taken to hospital after being found injured in front of a Merseyside tower block.

The circumstances of how the child got there are unclear, but the Liverpool Echo reports that the two-year-old fell from the building.

They reported that a man found the toddler and placed him in the recovery position.

Her condition is considered non-life threatening.

There is now a cordon around the building.

Merseyside Police said: “We can confirm that emergency services were called to an address on St James Drive in Bootle today, October 5.

“Around 12.40pm officers were called to a report that a two-year-old child had been found injured outside a block of flats.

“The child was taken to hospital with injuries believed to be non-life threatening.

“An investigation to clarify the circumstances is now underway.
