‘BMF’ Season 2 Episode 9 Summary: Broken Promises and Hearts

(WARNING: Spoilers for this week BMF Follow below.)

Each week for the BMF To Blowin’ Money Fast series, we wrap up the episode by looking at a few key things to see how they’re hurting Meech and Terry’s money-making goals and overall well-being. Each item is marked as a win or loss, the former keeps it in the black and the latter pushes it into the red. Throughout the season, something that was once unprofitable could become profitable and vice versa, but we’ll have to wait and see what that might be.

Meech and Terry’s aspired rise in the drug business continues in the second season of BMF is only a week away from the end. Episode eight of the season, “Push It To The Limit”, attempted to establish a new trial as her new batch of 300 kilos of cocaine required it. They received the drugs from the Colombians after Meech and Terry previously successfully negotiated a deal with them in the episode. Meech and Terry laid some new ground to bring this product to market, but it doesn’t come without interference from Lamar.

In this week’s episode “Treason,” Meech and Terry take the PA Boys and the rest of BMF on a trip to Atlanta. The trip is primarily business oriented but the respective crews make sure to have fun while out. The main reason for BMF to go to Atlanta is to open a shop in the city like they did in Cleveland to ship products and make money. Meech and Terry hope to use their connections around town, Goldie and Ty, to make things happen, and while they succeed, things do serious damage. Meech and Terry are also contemplating what to do with B-Mickie now that they know he ratted them out. Back in Detroit, Charles and Lucille’s marriage is at breaking point, and yet another discovery only makes matters worse for the Flenorys.

Regardless of the deals Meech was able to successfully transact during his time in Atlanta, his hand was indirectly involved in two extremely tragic endings. First we have Monique’s death, which came after Lamar overheard her attempt to kill him and quickly discovered it was a plan she hatched with Meech. This realization by Lamar led to him choking Monique to death, a discovery that will likely enrage Meech more than we’ve ever seen him. Second, after a night out in Magic City with Ty, BMF and the PA Boys, a shootout ensues and Ty is shot in the crossfire. Thus, a second promise made by Meech is broken when he cannot bring Ty home safely to his wife. We’ve seen Meech’s choices and actions affect others, but it wasn’t at that level.

It’s good to see Lucille standing up for herself. When she goes out to dinner with Pastor Swift, she rebuffs Charles’ question about when she’ll bring him back with a somewhat rude but well-deserved reply to him. She later learns that Charles cheated on her with Mabel and she threatens and scolds her friend while almost hitting her with a pan. We should note that when Lucille finally vented her anger on Charles’ guitar, Charles didn’t escape the mess unscathed. Despite all the stress Charles has caused her this season, it’s good to see that Lucille isn’t just wallowing in sadness. She stands up for herself and lets it be known that there is no easy solution to this. Charles broke his promise and he must face the consequences.

terry cloth

While Meech had his only mistakes and errors in this week’s episode, so did Terry. With B-Mickie’s return to the BMF and Terry’s discovery that B-Mickie was working with Detective Bryant, Terry is determined to have B-Mickie killed. Amazingly, Meech doesn’t want to kill B-Mickie and Terry can’t imagine that. If it had been anyone else, Terry knows for sure that he would have been taken down by now. However, Meech values family, so it makes sense that B-Mickie was forgiven and welcomed back. Despite this, Terry persuades Meech to have B-Mickie killed in Atlanta. Unfortunately, their plan fails thanks to the expected shootout in Magic City. B-Mickie captures Terry and corners him by putting a gun to his head. All in all, it was Terry’s failed attempt to eliminate B-Mickie and now the two just have to figure out how to work together.

Detectives Bryant & Jin

While BMF and the PA Boys are out in Atlanta getting active in Magic City and Freaknik and having a great time, Detectives Bryant and Jin are still working hard to gather enough evidence to corner Meech and Terry to drive and arrest. Bryant and Jin sleeping together isn’t good for them either, as for now it means their chemistry is higher than ever. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Meech and Terry learn that Boom has been arrested and bad things could happen if Bryant and Jin are able to talk to him. With pictures of Terry sleeping with Markeisha in his possession, Terry was almost certain that Boom would reveal all the information he knew about BMF, and Boom did just that. BMF is divided at the moment, but not Detectives Bryant and Jin. They’re working together more than ever and this is going to lead to bad things if BMF doesn’t get it together.

To conclude this week’s recap, it’s only right that we give Mo’Nique’s character Goldie another shoutout. It’s the first time we’ve seen her since season five, when Meech and Terry first met her during their first trip to Atlanta. When the BMF boys return, Goldie is nothing but welcoming, warm, charismatic and sarcastic – all the things that make her character enjoyable. Meech and Terry ask to launder money to pitch their club, and although she denies their request, she agrees to help them set up a business elsewhere. It was fun watching Goldie School B-Mickie make his slick comment about her strip club. It was healing to see how much she cared for her sister who is battling AIDS. It seems that the second season of BMF will end with BMF back in Detroit, so if that’s the case, there’s hope that Goldie has a lot more gigs BMF for the third season of the show.
