Blue alert canceled: Mann is said to have shot Hermann police officers in custody
HERMANN, Mo. – The man accused of killing a Hermann, Missouri police officer and wounding another in a double shooting has been taken into custody.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed the arrest of Kenneth Simpson’s Chris Hayes of FOX 2 Monday afternoon.
The shooting took place at Casey’s on Market Street in Hermann just before 9:20pm on Sunday. The circumstances of the shooting were not made public, except that the suspect shot dead two Hermann police officers.
Detective Sgt. Mason Griffith, 34, was identified as the officer killedin a tweet from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Officer Adam Sullentrup, 31, was also shot and taken to a St. Louis hospital for treatment.BackStoppers will help both families.
Police surrounded a home on East 11th and Market just after midnight Monday. The SWAT team and officers from various police departments throughout the morning and early afternoon.
