After successfully found because of the creation of innovative and comprehensive graphic design tools, Vegalia Jean-Pierre received over $50K from TikTok to create an app coming soon.
Jean-Pierre began building a strong following on the popular social media platform by posting cartoons that featured people of color, with braids and curls, Source Homeland report. While designing her cartoon, the Iowa State alumnus, who attended college on a full scholarship, realized that creating the braids and curls that she and others who look like her often wear How difficult and time consuming it is.
As a result, the product design graduate student created her own set of digital brushes to easily recreate Black hairstyles, including braids, curls, locks, twists and more. The innovative design became an instant hit, garnering Jean-Pierre views and thousands of sales from around the world.
Her company, by.Vegalia, suggestions over 50 digital brushes for natural hairstyles on Clip Studio Paint, Photoshop and Procreate, with prices ranging from $8 – $20. Thanks to her success on TikTok, the young Minnesota designer was invited participate in the TikTok incubator for Black Creators.
The three-month program provided Jean-Pierre with the resources to help her grow her following on the platform to over 500,000 followers.
“It was a huge benefit for me,” says Jean-Pierre.
She was also offered a $50K grant after pitching an idea for an app she’s currently creating.
“Our aim is to ensure Black creators and artists have the resources they need to reach new heights in their careers and careers,” said Kudzi Chikumbu, director of Creator Communities at TikTok. spearhead innovation in their respective industries”.
Besides her coming application will provide a space for diverse artists to feel represented, Jean-Pierre has also released the Melanin Magic coloring book she created with 14 other Black artists and features 35 magical figures original colors, including mermaids, fairies, and magical girls.
