Bittersweet India Series loss as Australian selectors mull David Warner for Ashes

Cameron Green, a century behind him, is ending the wait for his first Test hundred which is obviously great not just for Cameron but for the bigger picture of Australian cricket, particularly with the World Test Championship and the Ashes just around the corner. That’s a monkey off his back. Hopefully now he can relax and keep improving.

Along with the young spinners, Green is one of the big winners of the tour for Australia. They were brilliantly guided by Nathan Lyon who bowled beautifully. From a hit point of view, Usman Khawaja was at the top of the rankings and Travis Head once again reinforced his value at the side.

Travis missed the first test, but proved to the selectors that he was worth holding on to. His style is far from perfect, but his approach to Test cricket is refreshing. He’s very much ‘see the ball, hit the ball’. And he can change the game.

We saw it on our terms here in Australia. But now he has shown he can do it in India too, which many doubted. So I think he’s certainly secured a place, probably in the middle order for the Ashes tour of England in June and July.
