A security operation is underway in an area of Birmingham following a mass brawl involving 60 people last night.
A man was stabbed and weapons, including a hammer and chain, were found at the scene of the riots.
Police have triggered emergency stop and search powers following the ‘major disturbance’ at Sparkhill Park last night.
At least five others were injured in a massive group battle about five kilometers from the city center.
Police said those involved gathered on Stratford Road just before 9pm.
A 26-year-old man was taken to hospital with stab wounds that were not believed to be life-threatening.
A 23-year-old man suffered a suspected fractured eye socket, while four others, aged between 27 and 52, emerged with minor injuries.
Detectives work to find out who was involved and what sparked the violence after finding deadly weapons in the park.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “We will have visible patrols in and around the park – and the surrounding area – over the weekend.
“We also have S60 powers available from now until 11:59 p.m. today.
“This means we can stop and search people we suspect are involved in violent crimes involving weapons, without good reason.
“We do not use the s60 powers lightly, but we must do everything we can to reduce the risk of further unrest. Our priority is protecting the public.”
