REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the White House on Saturday.
Sullivan is normally in frequent contact with President Joe Biden but was last in contact with the president earlier in the week, according to a senior administration official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. Sullivan has kept his distance from Biden after “a few” people he’s been in close contact with tested positive for the virus, the official said.
Adrienne Watson, a spokeswoman for the National Security Council, said Sullivan is “asymptomatic and has not had close contact with the president.”
The White House confirmed Thursday that Biden had tested negative that day. White House officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment on whether Biden had been tested more recently.
