Benfica react to Man Utd interest in Darwin Nunez and reveal final demand | Soccer

Erik ten Hag will oversee major changes to United’s squad this summer, with the Dutchman keen for the club to sign a centre-back, two midfielders and a forward.
Nunez, 22, is one of the club’s top targets having scored 34 goals in 41 games – including six in the Champions League – with Arsenal and Real Madrid also among clubs credited with interest.
However, according to The Star, Benfica United have revealed they will have to pay £100million to bring him to Old Trafford – a move that would make him the most expensive signing in British football alongside Jack Grealish.
United aren’t ready to meet those demands but won’t back away from the deal and have urged Benfica to propose a more realistic price.
United are determined not to seek ransom but will move on to other targets unless the Portuguese side lowers their demands.
United are exploring other options with reports in Germany United are set to make an offer to sign RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku next week after the striker was recommended to the club by Ralf Rangnick.
According to Sky Sports Germany, Nkunku’s representatives are already in contact with United, with ten Hag backing the move.
RB Leipzig are reluctant to cash in this summer and could offer the France international a new deal that includes the incentive of a buy-out clause keeping him at the club for at least another year.
However, Nkunku is said to be “reluctant” to make new agreements with the German side.
