Balmain Crimes: Man stabbed to death

Police are looking for two men after an unidentified man was stabbed to death in Balmain on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased man, aged around 30, died in hospital Sunday night after suffering stab wounds to his face and torso.

Police were told he was involved in an altercation with two men on Donnelly Street in Balmain around 3.40pm. The other men fled in the car.

The injured man was treated at the scene by paramedics and then rushed to Prince Alfred Hospital where he underwent surgery. He died in hospital and has yet to be formally identified.

Police are investigating links to a burned-out car that was discovered shortly after the stabbing on Preston Avenue at Five Dock. Inside was a firearm that was sent for forensic examination.
