LAWRENCE, MASS. (WHDH) – Gov. Baker denied President Biden’s request to pardon marijuana possession convictions.
Last week, President Biden urged all governors to pardon state-level marijuana possession convictions, but Baker disagreed, citing state law.
“Anyone in Massachusetts who wishes to appropriately delete their records can now do so under applicable state law,” Baker said.
It’s not clear when Biden’s pardon will take effect for people previously convicted of federal marijuana possession, although no one is currently incarcerated for possession at the federal level.
