Avril Lavigne is interrupted by a topless woman at the Juno Awards

Avril Lavigne really likes public displays of love, as she revealed during her paparazzi-captured smooch session with current boyfriend and rapper Tyga recently. Hell, the rock singer is also here to dismantle patriarchy and social norms. But a very interesting person went a little too far tonight during the 2023 Juno Awards.

The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences’ annual music ceremony was supposed to be all about celebrating the best musical acts in the country. When Lavigne, who is Canadian by birth, took the stage during the ceremony, her speech was interrupted by an apparently insane fan. At first the musician did not react. However, realizing the topless woman was a protester, she yelled at the activist to “get off the stage” before security forces quickly escorted her.

More information about the Gatecrasher has now been released. The topless woman was striving for a good cause to protest Ontario’s development of previously protected Greenbelt land when the phrases “Save the Greenbelt” and “Land Back” were inscribed on her body.
