BAKERSFIELD — Authorities used boats and a helicopter to search for a 9-year-old boy who was swept down a river in Southern California.
The boy was reported lost around 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Hogeye Gulch area of the Kern River near Keysville, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office said.
How the boy got into the water was initially unclear. Sheriff’s officials said an adult relative had to be rescued after going into the river to try to rescue the child. KGET TV reports.
The search was suspended at sunset on Saturday and was due to resume at dawn on Sunday.
