For weeks, Coronation Street newcomer Lydia Chambers (Rebecca Ryan) has been stalking Barlows, offering compelling evidence to give the impression that she and Adam (Samuel Robertson) are having a passionate affair.
It seems her plan is working, as his marriage to Sarah (Tina O’Brien) is about to fall apart.
But fans will recall that Lydia wasn’t the first woman to go to war with a soap couple. Adam might want to chat with some of his neighbors if he gets out of this mess!
Let’s take a look at the women who have managed to get in between our favorite fictional spouses.
Maya Sharma, Coronation Street
Twisted Maya (Sasha Behar) gathers the wedding of ex-wife Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) for Sunita (Shobna Gulati) so that the bride gets arrested for bigamy. She then returned to kill the pair, and nearly succeeded in one of Corrie’s most explosive storylines.
Maya leaves Dev and Sunita tied up in their apartment with the gas turned on, but their neighbors come to the rescue. Maya then tried to run Sunita over, but the latter was pulled to safety just in time and Maya was jailed for her crimes.
Sienna Blake, Hollyoaks
Hollyoaks lead actor Sienna (Anna Passey) made her mark when she parted ways with Darren (Ashley Taylor Dawson) and Nancy Osborne (Jessica Fox). She used Nancy’s painkillers to create friction between the couple, then seduced Darren.
Sienna pretends to be pregnant, kidnaps young Tom Cunningham (Ellis Hollins) and tries to provoke the Osborne children. Only then does the coin finally drop for Darren, and the soap uncovers the story of Sienna’s traumatic past as she seeks treatment for her behavior.
Sarah Cairns, EastEnders
EastEnders’ Martin Fowler (then played by James Alexandrou) wakes up in a strange bed with a hangover and a woman named Sarah (Alison Pargeter).
Martin feels guilty for cheating on his wife Sonia (Natalie Cassidy), while Sarah harasses him and his family. She then admits nothing happened between them and tries to stab Sonia. Martin is caught in the fire, but he survives and his stalker is captured.
Maria Connor, Coronation Street
Maria (Samia Longchambon) has endured a lot of suffering, including being widowed, cheating, and dating a murderer. So she reached out to teenage sweetheart Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall), who is currently dating Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine).
Maria sends Ty text messages posing as Kirsty (Natalie Gumede) – his abusive ex – using his grief as a way to get closer to him. Fiz and Tyrone quickly found out what she was up to, and Maria took a moment to focus on her mental health.
Sally Spode, Emmerdale
Sally (Sian Reeves) arrives as the ex-girlfriend of village deputy Ashley Thomas (John Middleton). She soon begins to target his wife Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy), locking her in the church before setting it on fire.
Ashley apparently refuses to believe Laurel’s claims about Sally being uninjured, but ultimately tells her to leave as her threats become more transparent. She responded by drugging Ashley, and after a fight with Laurel, Sally was taken away by the police and dismembered.
Mercedes McQueen, Hollyoaks
Mercy (Jennifer Metcalfe) regrets abusing her ex Riley Costello (Rob Norbury). But he fell in love with Mitzeee Minniver (Rachel Shenton), so Mercedes secretly tortured the other woman.
When the glamor model revealed the truth, Mercedes knocked her down before crashing herself into Mitzeee’s goal. Finally Mercy’s sick plan is exposed and Mitzeee is freed from prison. Mercedes feels no remorse, but has since tamed its way.
Casey Carswell, Coronation Street
‘Casey’ (played by Emmerdale’s Zoë Henry) is actually known as KC. She befriends Claire Peacock (Julia Haworth) through a support network for women who have suffered a miscarriage, but begins stalking her before having an affair with Ashley (Steven Arnold).
KC nearly killed Claire before kidnapping the couple’s son Freddie, threatening to jump off the balcony with him. Claire rescued the boy and the police arrived, after which KC declared mentally unable to stand trial.
