Arsenal ‘would be a good club’ for Cody Gakpo, says ex-PSV star

Gakpo has been a revelation in Holland this season, recording 16 goals and 15 assists in 37 games for PSV.
Perez, who played for the Dutch club in the late 2000s and now works as a pundit, believes Gakpo, 22, would be a good fit for the Emirates.
“Arsenal would be a really good club for him,” Perez told ESPN. “Of course that’s not the arsenal of the past anymore – they’re between fifth and tenth
“They’re still not there, but you just can’t look at the league standings. They finished tenth last year. If they have a good year, they will be fourth.’
In January, the Gunners dropped forwards Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang goes to Barcelona where Mikel Arteta is out of goals.
Despite Alexandre Lacazette’s contribution to team play, the Frenchman has scored just four goals in 23 league games for Arsenal this season and it’s unknown if he will be offered a contract extension in the summer.
Meanwhile, Eddie Nketiah’s contract is also up in a couple of months, meaning Arsenal have no choice but to enter the forward options market.
Earlier this month Arteta detailed what he looks for in a forward.
“He puts the ball in the net, that’s priority number one,” Arteta told Sky Sports. ‘Goal threat. Every successful team needs enough goal threat in the squad. Without her you have nothing. You can play good football, but you need enough goal threat in the team.
“The other thing is that he has to complement the other people that we have, personally and on the pitch, and for that we need the right profile.
“We need a profile where you can use your qualities at the same time as the qualities we already have so we don’t have to change our play again to adapt to that particular player.
“He has to be of a certain age, a certain level of experience and he has to be able to come here and play under the pressure of being at Arsenal.”
Whether or not Arteta’s side qualify for the Champions League could prove crucial to their summer plans.
